Before You Begin:
Ensure you have the following ready:
- Microsoft Office Product Key (25-character alphanumeric code).
- Access to a phone (landline or mobile).
- An internet connection (for generating the Installation ID).
Step 1: Open Microsoft Office Application
- Launch any Microsoft Office app like Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
- If prompted to activate, select “Activate by phone”. Otherwise, follow these steps:
- Go to the File menu (or click the Office Button in older versions).
- Select Account.
- Click Change Product Key.
- Enter your 25-character product key and follow the prompts to start activation.
Step 2: Select “Activate by Phone”
- When the activation wizard appears, select the option “I want to activate the software by telephone”.
- If this option is not visible, check your regional settings or internet connection.
- Click Next.

Step 3: Choose Your Country/Region
- In the activation wizard, you will see a list of countries.
- Select your Country/Region from the drop-down menu. This will ensure you are given the correct local phone number for activation.
Step 4: Call the Microsoft Activation Center
- A toll-free phone number will appear on your screen.
- Note: The phone number might be specific to your region, so make sure to dial the number provided.
- Call the number using your phone. The system will guide you through the process.
Step 5: Provide the Installation ID
- The activation wizard will display a long Installation ID (usually divided into groups of digits).
- During the phone call, you’ll be asked to enter this Installation ID using your phone’s keypad.
- Follow the automated system’s instructions carefully to input the numbers accurately.
- After you enter the Installation ID, the system will validate it and generate a Confirmation ID.
Step 6: Enter the Confirmation ID
- After receiving the Confirmation ID from the automated system, enter it in the appropriate fields on your screen.
- The confirmation ID is usually divided into sections, just like the Installation ID.
- Once entered, click Next to complete the activation process.
Step 7: Activation Confirmation
- If the confirmation ID is accepted, you will see a message confirming that Microsoft Office has been successfully activated.
- You can now use the Office applications without any limitations.
Troubleshooting Tips:
- Invalid Confirmation ID: Ensure that you entered the Installation ID correctly. If there’s a mistake, you may need to start the process again.
- No Phone Option: Make sure your product key is legitimate and that you have selected the correct country/region.
- System Doesn’t Recognize Installation ID: Double-check that you’ve entered the Installation ID exactly as shown.
- Support: If the automated phone system fails, you can usually opt to speak with a representative who will assist in the activation.
Post-Activation:
- You can check the activation status by:
- Opening any Office application.
- Going to File > Account.
- The status will display under Product Information as either Activated or Not Activated.
